چکیده

Nowadays, most network management systems operate SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol). These protocols use the client-server model, on which the management station acts as a client that provides a user interface to the network manager and interacts with agents, which are servers that manage remote access to the Management Information Base (MIB). In certain circumstances (e.g. at times of network stress), this client-server interaction generates significant traffic that overloads the management station. A distributed paradigm is a possible way to perform management functions when networks grow significantly. In this sense, mobile agent is an option to distribute the network management [1]. These agents move to the place where data are stored and select information the user wants. They decentralise processing and control, and, as a consequence, reduce the traffic around the management station, and distribute processing load. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of using a mobile agent as compared to a static agent in alleviating loading created by network management protocols and to investigate the performance behaviour of network management concepts using simulation [5]. Initial results on Traffic and Load show that performance is better when the number of managed nodes on the network are increased.

Performance Evaluation of Network Management Operations using static and mobile agent methodologies

In this paper we present an introduction to an MSc project about the performance evaluation of network management using static and mobile agent methodologies. The project will explore through simulation, the loading created by a variety of network performance management activities using both static and mobile agent methodologies. It will compare and contrast the effects of these activities and ...

Performance Evaluation of Mobile Agent-based Dynamic Load Balancing Algorithm

The proliferation of heterogeneity of today’s network and the rapid development in wireless networks has raised an urgent requirement for a new communication paradigm. The Mobile agent paradigm is a promising technique that addresses the client-server limitations in network management applications. This paradigm helps to alleviate bandwidth limitations and supports disconnected operations that ...

QoS Management by Mobile Agents in Multimedia Communication

In this paper we propose a mobile agent based QoS management system to satisfy the five functional principles of QoS architecture, i.e., integration, separation, transparency, asynchronous resource management and performance. Mobile agent paradigm is a unique paradigm in contrast to traditional client/server paradigm in a problem inherently distributed and complex, such as QoS management. This ...

Integrating mobile agent technology with multi-agent systems for distributed traffic detection and management systems

Agent technology is rapidly emerging as a powerful computing paradigm to cope with the complexity in dynamic distributed systems, such as traffic control and management systems. However, while a number of agent-based traffic control and management systems have been proposed and the multi-agent systems have been studied, to the best of our knowledge, the mobile agent technology has not been appl...
